I just discovered a new site that was made with my tutorial (go to the graphics page or under the "What's New" section to the right)...it's on my affiliates page...I just wanted to say that since I worked really hard on that tutorial (and the site owner was very kind about crediting it), I'd LOVE to see what sites it ends up making, so please, if you make a site with my tutorial, let me know! It's a beautiful site and I'm proud that I helped in some way to make it, even if in a very small one. :) Ciao! |

{october 19 2006--| 8:53 pm} {music | Pirates of the Caribbean} Eep! I'm not dead! *cowers in fear as Vicky, Kate, MirandaTook, etc. brandish nets* Run away! Run away! (sorry, bad Monty Python joke, lol). So my midterms are over for the moment, and I still have a paper topic due tomorrow, so clearly life is insane. Actually, I'm going to resort to bribery and say that *if* people email me the following, I WILL WRITE THE NEXT CHAPTER OF WINTERSTAR: 1. The part with Harry seeing Sirius-the-dog in Magnolia Crescent. 2. The part with Ron waking up and finding Sirius standing over him holding a knife (like from the end of Harry's dream or whatever and Ron's whole description). 3. The part with Harry seeing the "Grim" in the stands. If you want, also the scene in the Shrieking Shack, but that's a lot to type...basically I need nearly-word-for-word transcription and especially with the dialogue. I hate non-canon, as we all know...so yeah, there's my plug for you, since I don't have a copy on hand and I can't write the next chapter yet. Each of you (whoever "you" turns out to be) could send me one bit, or whatever...much much appreciated, and I may have to do this for a couple other chapters as well, sadly enough...*cries* You all rock, and hope to hear from you soon, even if I'm bad about emailing back! {october 11 2006--| 12:56 am} {mood| studious--again} Gah...it's almost 1 am and I'm still working...I was going to tell everyone that since I (finally!) downloaded the infinitely superior-to-Internet-Explorer Mozilla Firefox (woot), I'm going to be revamping my site, so some of the pages may look a little screwy for a few days, but not much... The best way to explain it is that IE uses older "modes" to display pages; if it works in IE, it may or may not work in another browser, but if it works in Firefox, it will work in all browsers (or most of them). :D I'm excited, lol. Oh, and I'm now working for yet *another* organization as one of the webmasters...how insane is that? And I'm now a moderator for Criminal Desires, a DM ff site...:) Go check it out...c'est increible (spelling?). Me gusta mucho. (Yes, I do speak Spanish, but definitely not French.) Debo escribir m?s en espa?ol...ah well. Well, off to bed, but just warning everyone of that, and those of you to whom I still owe emails (I am very, VERYVERYVERY busy at the moment), I will get back to yoU! Really! :D |

{october 6 2006--| 2:10 pm} {mood| tired} Once again, I'm sitting in class, lol, but they're talking about grade distributions (woot) so I'm kind-of like ehh...:) It's SOOOOO cold here today, or at least I think it is...I was like why am I not wearing a coat? This is stupid... I don't want to break out the winter coat yet, though... Aaaand...class is starting, so I'll go. Also, news flash: I've been commissioned to make a REAL website (by which I mean I'm being paid, if all goes well)! {october 3 2006--| 10:50 am} {mood| attentive--sort-of} I'm sitting in class right now, listening to a lecture on The song of Roland. it's a very interesting book, though it makes me think that all guys are stupid (no offense, any of you)...it really makes me think of a group of gorillas--with swords--beating their chests and roaring at each other. Hahaha. Oh well...oh, speaking of, we heard the *original* version of Cinderella the other night, and I don't think I've EVER heard of a dumber guy. What a freaking moron! "I don't recognize the girl I danced with for three nights! I'll go marry whomever the shoe fits!" I mean, I understand if they had masks, and I do understand in the movie because the prince wasn't the one who went around looking for the girl with the shoe, but GAH what an idiot...and...and...just gah. Sorry. Opinionated.:p Oh, and did you know that (a) the father is alive and refers to Cinderella as "the daughter of my dead wife" (I am not making this up) and (b) the stepmother has her daughters chop off a toe and part of their heel, respectively? Wow...I'm so very happy I don't live in that kingdom...:p I should actually copy down more of the lecture than I'm doing at the moment, so I'll go now...tty'all later! Ciao! |

I learned some really interesting things, such as how to get from a folder lower in the "file chain" (i.e. inside another folder) BACK UP to the regular folder...usually when you have a file in, say, images, you write <a href="images/picture.jpg">, but if you have, for whatever reason, a file in the images folder in which you need a link to the home page in the main folder (URL <http://www.freewebs.com/mysitename/home.html, when the images-folder file is <http://www.freewebs.com/mysitename/images/file.html), instead of putting <a href="home.html"> in the file, you put <a href="../home.html."> That is if I remember that correctly. Anyway, there's some random information from my web design class...I had some other material but I can't remember at the moment :p I have homework and breakfast (gah what a weird combination) to get to, so I'll tty'all later! Please let me know what you think--I spent about 5 hours that I should have used for reading...*cough* This is so much more fun! :) I'm going to take a web design class starting tomorrow...I'm really excited, heehee. {september 23 2006--| 12:15 pm} {mood| disoriented} Forgive all spelling errors...so my roommates and I went out last night and partied (surprisingly with no alcohol :D), then stayed up until 4 talking...yes, that was a bad idea, I realize. THEN a little bit ago I was awakened by this really loud noise and I saw flashing lights and realized that the fire alarm was going off. It rains a lot in Boston, and my blinds were down, so I had no idea what time it was; I rooted around in my stuff for my keys and cell phone, threw on some shoes, "woke" my roommate, and ran outside. "WTF WHAT TIME IS IT?!?" we were all thinking. I looked at my cell phone, expecting it to be like 8:30 am. No, it was 11:58 am. UM. I'm glad now that we woke up, because we have soooooo much work to do here at Harvard, lol...but GAH!!! I honestly could have slept until like 3 or 4 pm quite happily. Note to self: do not walk for 4 hours straight (we visited the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, which is RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous), then go dancing, then stay up until 4 and expect to not feel dead the next day :( Also, my blockmate "taught" me how to fence. It's awesome. {september 13 2006--| 3:29 am} {mood| excited} First of all: NEW WEB DESIGN TUTORIAL UP!!! Go to "graphics" and then scroll down to "Web Design 101 Tutorial"...it assumes that you have never used HTML before (at all) and teaches you how to make a website like this one. Second: I have photoshop now! That means that I may be taking banner requests...I'll be very slow with them, however, so I'll have to figure out a regulatory system for them. It *is* Harvard, after all...we do have *some* work here, LOL. I want to thank Kate for being WONDERFUL and doing a color version of her Winterstar picture that she drew for me (I love you, you rock!)...I'll get that link up shortly. Also, thanks to Minnie...she's now making *me* a banner (oh, and people, go check out her stories!) because she just rocks that much! Lol! Vicky dear, I haven't forgotten you, of course...nor Ruchira, Nicci, or many others...thank YOU, especially for your amazing reviews! I really didn't feel like I did that good a job on this last chapter...I was amazed by the feedback! I'm not taking requests yet, as I won't have access to Photoshop (or time, for that matter) for at least 3 or 4 days...I'm off to school tomorrow! Oh yeah, I should have a thank-yous section on here...will be up shortly :) NOW the forms for affiliate application and review-requesting (and that is *not* arrogant of me, lol, another person had it on her site and I thought it was a good idea since I'm slightly too overwhelmed by everything to go hunt for new stories on my own, haha) should be up! I can make it go away...I don't know what's wrong with it, and there's no help section on the bravenet site...figures. *grumbles about stupid do-it-yourself sites* On a happier note, new affiliates! The wonderful Minnie, about whom you will likely hear more in the future, lol...at What Lies Beneath (awesome site...I requested that my Winterstar site be based on it)...and MirandaTook's site, Magic and Madness. I'm pretty happy with it...I'm one of the founders of the company so my co-founder and I collaborated on the design and I put it all together. Not all the pages are filled in yet, but that will be soon remedied :) I'm really, really loving the whole blog thing here...now I need some COMMENTS! Lol...just kidding :) Actually, I need to go out and introduce my "alter ego" here to more of my Winterstar affiliates, methinks.
